5 a.m.
Sunday November 1, 2009
the loudest crash i have ever heard
from outside.
Chantal & I immediately sit up and look at each other
(keep in mind..
we had just finished The Grudge a few hours before
and were functioning on about 7 hours of sleep in the past 36 hours)
we were scared to look out our window
let alone open our door to see what happened
i thought someone had broken into our house
or that there was an accident on Kamehameha Hwy..
(we live right off one of the most dangerous highways in Hawaii
..people die on it like every day.)
I looked out my window and all i could see what a white car parked
across the street
so we went together haha.. and opened our door
we went to look off the balcony..
but there was nothing on the street..
so we were just like oh.....
then we saw it....
a man without a driver's license
or insurance
fell asleep while he was driving
his car swerved and almost hit that white car i saw
there's a telephone pole about 5 feet away from the brick wall
... the guy and somehow managed to go in-between the pole
and wedge his car (completely smashing the driver's side)
in between Carly's car and the brick wall.
He was SOO lucky to be alive...
and we're so lucky there's a brick wall outside our house..
or he probably would have taken out one of the beams that holds our house up.
The loud crash was
the sheets of glass that are randomly on the grass
on the other side of the brick wall
when his car hit the bricks it made a hole in the wall
and the bricks shattered the giant sheets of glass
and that's what woke us up..
The guy wasn't drunk
it was 5 a.m. after Halloween and we think he was just on his way home..
anyway we had to go wake up Carly
(Erin had just gotten home from town
about 30 min. before.. so she heard the crash
but no one else in the studio woke up
so she just kept sleeping)
We stayed outside with her until the police came
and they filed a report
and we went back to bed..
We were just thinking..
what if that guy hadn't have been so lucky
what if he'd died right outside our house
from hitting the pole head on
or Carly's car..
or that other white car..
or if that wall hadn't been there...
Everyone who reads this..
just know that i love you
because we never know what life will throw at us
it was a crazy crazy weekend.
