Impressionism

In my music class, Professor Duerden talked about the "isms"
of the 20th Century.
She focused mostly on Impressionism today.

Honestly, all the "isms"of the world are kind of abstract
and i haven't really understood what they all are.

This is what I got about Impressionism:
For example;
Monet paints just a bunch of brush strokes
so up close it looks like just strokes on a canvas
but when you look from farther away, it creates something
and gives you an impression.
So we learned about how music, when the 20th Century came,
started to branch out and not follow the previous rules
that the composers would use to compose music.
So impressionistic music is something like
the Clair De Lune from the twilight soundtrack.
it doesn't follow a lot of rules,
but gives you an impression.
So Cool.. needless to say i was really intrigued haha
