Things I Love About Hawaii (and my life)

So recently i've caught myself thinking a lot more negative than positive. So i want to make a list of things that make me happy and smile. It is 12:06AM on September 30, 2009 and here are some reasons why i love my life =)

*i go to school in hawaii.. i mean really..

*I get to ride a cute beach cruiser to class everyday.. with a large pink basket on the back. (which sets it apart from all the other cute purple beach cruisers around campus that everyone gets at walmart hehe)

*i have a best friend that is far away from me but has texted me every single day since i've been gone, and he is one of the funniest people i know so talking to him is the highlight of my day.

*i got Friends season 2 for $10 because ohana video is going out of business 

* i get to watch the 3 friends seasons that i have on my tv that my mom bought me and it is amazing. 

*today i rearranged my living room/kitchen in my house with my roommate to suit the tv and open area and the room feels bigger! yay

*my roommates are slowly but surely becoming my best friends in hawaii and i'm excited about it cause they're all so sweet

*i have a lot of cute clothes and shoes.. and i'm proud of myself because it has taken me a long time to figure out the style that i want.. i'm still working on it but my improving wardrobe is increasing the fun of it. 

* some of my best friends in the world are so hard to deal with sometimes.. and its funny because its my divine destiny to learn true charity and unconditional love 

*i have grown up to learn these few simple but good rules about life:

(they're not in order of importance..)

- fights are meant to be fought to resolve issues, not to just get everything out and let it sit while you pretend to forgive. 

- once you find out what you really like.. you can find good friends who will stand by you and love you for who you are, and that feels amazing.

- being an optimistic realist is the way to go

- past relationships make life messy.. the experience was totally worth it.. and thinking back is not so fun

-honest to goodness i know that we choose our attitudes. it suprises me sometimes how people react to things.. i'm always like "wow... i didn't mean to make you feel that way" haha because its totally not how i would react. 

- learning to laugh at yourself and not take life so seriously is what we all need.. just like tommy monson told us and we all just keep forgetting "enjoy the journey-now."

-learning to do what you can then forget yourself in the service of others is what i need. 

- the words honor, cherish, and love are underrated 

- i need to learn not to get frustrated when people get worked up over things. I almost NEVER get upset over things.. unless its huge like a relationship or friendship ends.. So when people get worked up and make things a big deal.. its hard for me to understand them.. i just want to convince people that everything will be ok. it's not a big deal when you look at the scheme of things.... i mean really.... a lot of things that people get upset over aren't worth the mental fight.

Hawaii

Last year in Hawaii i was on the dance/cheer team for byuh. I went to the tryouts last night to learn the material.. and the auditions were this morning, but i decided not to do it again this year. It was a way hard decision.. but its because it was more humiliating than it was fun haha. We weren't very good, and no one paid attention to us.. and as much as i want to believe i can help improve the team.. or that it could be better this year, deep down i don't believe it so i decided not to do it again. It was a really good work out though!

My roommates Bree, Chantal and I have gotten into the habit of like never leaving our house. We sit in the kitchen (like what we're doing right now) and get on our computers and watch shows and cook and talk. Haha we love our house too much to go out and enjoy hawaii. That was a perk of the dorms.. you really just don't want to sit in them all day so i always went and found stuff to do. But my house is just so fun..

My classes are going good.. i'm still not in the whole "study before doing anything" state yet but i'll get there. I've been slacking quite a bit already and its only been like a week and a day since classes started.. uh oh. 

This is my schedule:

Monday:

Doctrine & Covenants 11-12

Spanish 12:10 - 1:10

Theatre 1:20 - 2:20

Tuesday:

Music Literature 7:40 - 9:10

Spanish 12:10 - 1:10

  

Wednesday is the same as Monday

Thursday is the same as Tuesday

Friday:

Theater 1:20 - 2:20

and i'm taking an online Biology class.

So i'll be getting pretty busy when everything picks up.. 

The House

*We don't have air conditioning and my room gets very hot when the sun is setting because my window is huge and the sun beams right onto my bed haha. 

*We actually have a tub! The bathroom is very very nice.

*The entire upstairs was built last summer so its really new. 

*Next to the fridge, there is another door that is locked, that door connects to the part of the house that erin lives in. We pound on the door and talk to each other a lot haha.

*I went through and thoroughly cleaned the floors today after my first class.. and i've cleaned the kitchen twice already.. and i love cleaning my own house!! it is so fun and cute and i love it so much more. I honestly don't think i would've enjoyed coming back to hawaii as much if i had to move back into the dorms.

*My mom and dad bought me a ton of groceries and today was my first full day eating my own groceries! i had cereal for breakfast, and a delicious turkey sandwich for lunch.. 

then i took a really long nap haha. 

**All in all.. i LOVE my house and my roommates. It's going to be a fun semester =)

I was going to erase it because i feel like the only people who blog are those who are married and having children and i am not one of those people. 

but living in hawaii has its perks so i guess people want to hear about that, yes?

My Recent Life:

Lived at my parents house in Stone Cliff for 5 months.

Worked at Barnes & Noble as a barista in the cafe.

My hair this past year went from light brown to blonde to really blonde to red with bangs, blonde is my favorite but i have to wait to go back.

I LOVED the movies Postgrad, 500 Days of Summer, Julie & Julia.. and there were some others i saw that i really liked but i cant remember what they were haha.

My best friend's older brother came home from his mission in Taiwan.  We've become the best of friends and he's coming out to BYUH in January and i am like counting down the days! 

Danny if you read this, you're on my blog so feel special haha.

My parents flew out to hawaii with me to help me get settled in.

I moved off campus into the Casa De Chicas and it is oh so cute and i love my roommates and erin moved into a different section of the house and it is going to be so fun! I'll try to post more pictures and do less talking.. but anyway.. i'm going to the Night Show at the PCC right now. =) more later.. thanks for listening :3 (mischevious cat face)
